2020 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational: Matchup bets

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 8:20 a.m. ET.

Hideki Matsuyama vs. Patrick Reed (-106)

Both golfers have two career WGC wins, but Reed has the more recent victory, having won the WGC-Mexico Championship at minus-18 in February. He also enters in better form off of a T-10 at the Memorial Tournament and is the underdog in this matchup.

Patrick Cantlay vs. Webb Simpson (-106)

Simpson finished second in this event last year and has two victories already in 2020. Cantlay has three top-10s in six career WGC stroke-play events, but he was just T-12 in Memphis last year.

Xander Schauffele vs. Collin Morikawa (+105)

Schauffele has finished outside the top 20 in just one of five events since the PGA Tour’s restart, while Morikawa has a win, a runner-up, a missed cut, and finishes of T-64 and T-48. Schauffele finished 27th at TPC Southwind in 2019 as Morikawa claimed his first victory in the Barracuda Championship the same week. Take the value at plus-money.

2020 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational: Placing bets

Top 5: Tyrrell Hatton (+400)

Hatton finished just T-43 here last year, but he was T-14 in the WGC-HSBC Champions and T-6 in the Mexico Championship. He’s second on Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach; fifth in SG: Tee-to-Green; fifth in Par 4 Performance; and first in SG: Putting in 2020, and he’s looking for a fourth straight top-5 finish on the PGA Tour.

Top Australian: Marc Leishman (+220)

Jason Day (+150) is the favorite in this group following a pair of impressive results at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Day, however, is much less familiar with TPC Southwind, while Leishman finished third here a year ago.

Top American: Brooks Koepka (+1600)

Koepka’s form is in complete disarray as he prepares to defend titles here and at the PGA Championship next week. His odds have plummeted to +3000 to win the event, and he’s just seventh by the odds to be the Top American. At least a small wager needs to be made anytime the four-time major champ gets odds greater than 10-1.
