US Open 2020 Winged Foot Rough

The head superintendent Steve Rabideau said
“Plus-8. Plus-8. Plus 8. … That would cap a very difficult summer. And my guys know that’s what I’ve been thinking.”
The last time the US Open was played at Winged Foot Geoff Ogilivy won with a score of +5.  The Aussie was the surprise winner after Colin Montgomerie and Phil Mickelson both messed up the 72nd hole.

Up to last week workers were still fertilising the rough which will be the key hazard in the defence of par.  The primary cut will be 3.5 inches, while the second cut will be at least 5 inches.
To accommodate the filed of 144 there were be a split tee start for the first two rounds just after sunrise at 6.50am.
