Having twice failed to get across the whitewash in Houston and Riviera Sam Burns finally got his first win on the PGA Tour yesterday and what a performance he put on. The American cruised home on the, less tricky than billed, Copperhead Course to win the Valspar Championship by three shots.
Burns had Keegan Bradley for company for much of Sunday before he fell away with a double on 13 allowing the 24 year old to claim a comfortable win unopposed.
Having come to Palm Harbour with three missed cuts from his last four starts Burns is now firmly on the up again with a lodgement of $1,242,000 to his bank account, a jump to 44th in the latest world golf rankings and coveted spots at the US Open and next years Masters secured.
