Bryson’s Massive Thick “JumboMax” Grips, The 5.5 Degree Cobra Driver And The Rest Of His Winning Equipment

Be honest we've all eaten 6000 calories for brekkie this morning in the hope we'll gain 10 miles an hour ball speed! Painful as he sometimes is to watch, there was just something jaw droppingly special about watching Bryson DeChambeau brutalise Detroit Golf Club into submission with ball speeds nearing 200 miles an hour and an astonishing driving average of over 350 yards.
Earlier in the week DeChambeau jokingly apologized to the legendary golf architect Donald Ross for his intention to drive the ball over the hazards and traps but it does bring into focus (again) the serious question of how long is long enough for Tour professionals and modern courses?
For now the “Scientist” has once again been proven correct, he's up to seventh in the world, his methods vindicated, and man oh man is it fun to watch!!

What's In The Bag Of Bryson DeChambeau

The Grips

It's well known that Bryson uses “One Length” clubs, they are all the same shaft length of a 7-iron.  But he also uses much thicker grips than normal. They are called JumboMax Tour grips, and they are reporting a massive surge in demand of late.
Now weighing in at just over 17 stone DeChambeau used a Cobra King Speedzone driver with just 5.5 degrees of loft in Detroit and averaged a field topping 350.6 yards.  He hit 33 fairways, T58 in the driving accuracy stats.
Using King One Utility long irons and Forged One from 6-iron to wedge Bryson capitalised on his enormous driving to hit 56 greens, T13 in the field. He also uses LA Golf Rebar Proto carbon fibre shafts that are glorified pokers!!
What possibly went unnoticed giving his pugilistic long game was DeChambeau's performance on the greens. Using a SIK prototype putter he needed 111 putts total (T7 in the field), rolling in 27 birdies and an eagle versus just six bogeys for the week and posted a Strokes Gained: Putting clip of 2.672 when it mattered most on Sunday.
He now has seven wins worldwide in three years and climbs to seventh in the latest world golf rankings.
