2023 American Express Betting Tips
January 19th – 22nd, 2023
Pete Dye Stadium Course, La Quinta, California
Par: 72 / Yardage: 7,187
Purse: $8 Million with $1,440,000 to the winner
Defending Champion: Hudson Swafford
Jon Rahm starts heavy favourite at 6/1 but Patrick Cantlay at 11/1 looks fair value in the “win-only” market. Lightly raced and hard to really get a handle on this early in the year but always a threat. T16 at the TOC improving at the weekend. T9 here last year and 2nd in 2021 after a final round 61 on the Desert Course. Banker to contend.
Doc’s Top-5 Best Each Way Tips
Tony Finau 12/1
You just cant NOT make a case for Finau this week. Winner of the Cadence Bank in November, T7 at the TOC. Best of 4th here in 2021.
Brian Harman 28/1
Three top-10’s here since 2017 including T3 in 2017 and 2022 Steady enough start to 2023 after a pair of runner-up finishes in November but given his track record here, Harman has to be an each-way look.
Adam Hadwin 66/1
Four top-6 finishes between 2016 and 2019, including shooting a 59 in 2017, make this event very special, not to mention lucrative, for Adam. First start since a T7 at the Cadence Bank in November. He’s sure to be ready and fired up to contend again.
Tom Hoge 40/1
Let us down last week with a T41 at The Sony
, following a T3 at the TOC but let’s stick with Tom one more week. Second here last year to Hudson Swafford and T6 in 2020.
Andrew Putnam 60/1
I’m just wondering if his T4 at the Sony last week can propel Andrew to achieve more than the four top-25 finishes he’s had at this event. His only win came in 2018 at the Barracuda but another place this week will do us nicely.
