Doc's Top 5 Each Way Bets

Webb Simpson 16/1

12th appearance for Webb and he's yet to miss a Sony Open cut. No wonder he keeps coming back as these Hawaii trips have yielded ten top 10's.  He's been no worse than 4th in last 3 visits, he'll be guaranteed ready to go and it's an each way no brainer at 16/1.

Matt Jones 45/1

Half a million bucks in the bank already in 2021 for solo 3rd at the TOC last week and the likeable Aussie will be looking to make hay while the Sun shines.  It'll be the 41 year old's 10th Sony start, he had his best finish ever (T11) last year but after shooting 62, 61 last weekend he'll be confident of besting that this time around.

Brendan Steele 80/1

Shot 61 here on Saturday last year to lead heading into the final round but had to settle for T4 after a so so final round.  Also 2nd in 2020 and way overpriced at 80/1.  Yes Steele is streaky but like he showed at the Zozo in October with another second there, he really can contend when in the mood.

Seamus Power 50/1

Delighted to see Seamus score another T15 last week at the TOC after earning his spot at the 2021 Barbasol.  Becoming the model of consistency on the PGA Tour.  After 7 events of the wraparound 2022 season he already has $788,942 in the bank, half what he won in total last season. Fifth start at Waialae but a much wilier proposition this year.

Marc Leishman 20/1

You couldn't trust a wager on Marc Leishman as far as you could throw him but at 20/1 he is worth a look here each way.  T4 in 2021, T3 in 2019 and his last solo win came in January 2020 at The Farmers.  T10 last week at Kapalua.

Long Odds Glory Shots

Patton Kizzire 110/1 won here in 2018 and was T8 last year.  This first event always throws curve balls as nobody truly has “form” yet so Kizzire looks a decent horse for the course.
Brian Stuard at 125/1 has had four top 10's at the Sony between2013 and 2019 and shouldn't be discounted for a place.
