Doc's Top 5 Best Each Way Bets
Maverick McNealy 28/1
T30 last week isn't a reflection of his game right now. Super consistent of late and ready to pounce on what is essentially home territory this week. T5 in 2020 and solo 2nd last year; the bookies are on to him but still good value.
Jason Day 20/1
There are no guarantees ever with Jason Day but he has the formline of a thoroughbred racehorse around the Monterrey Peninsula with a massive 8 top-10's from 12 starts. Add to that a super T3 finish last week at Torrey Pines and an each way bet looks prudent.
Justin Rose 28/1
Very solid T6 finish last week for Rosey to bag a nice quarter mill and begin the rise up the world rankings again to 39th. T2 this time last year in Saudi but abandoned the Crown Prince this year for only his third appearance at the Pebble Beach Pro Am. Twenty two birdies last week (same as Luke List) augers well.
Will Zalatoris 18/1
Came to prominence last week at the Masters pushing Hideki all the way and has started the 2022 PGA Tour averaging just shy of $300,000 per start. Solo second at Torrey last week courtesy of three eagles. Nothing at all to show from two starts in this event but looks an entirely different prospect this week.
Michael Thompson 70/1
T11 last week at The Farmers to go with a T5 at the Sony Open and Michael Thompson is enjoying his golf right now. Best of T10 here in 2019 but across driving, irons and his forte putting he comes in this time in better form.
Long Odds Glory Shot
Pat Perez 110/1
Double P Pat Perez put a slew of missed cuts behind him last week with a fine T6 around Torrey Pines and such is the character of the man, he might just revel in the pro-am format and keep it going here. Has contended at the sharp end here before and way overpriced at 110/1.
