Doc's 5 Best Each Way Tips
Sungjae Im 12/1
Winner here in 2020 and T8 defending last year. Great plotter, maybe even a plodder, especially on a wicked tricky course like this. Sungjae is a tees and greens specialist and when he does miss he's super tidy with his wedges. Winner on the wraparound season at The Shriners among six top-20's.
Shane Lowry 33/1
Waiting patiently for the year Shane Lowry does great at The Honda. There's a nice Irish connection at this event, Shane lives locally, it's always windy at PGA National and you need a great short game on the course, so on paper it's a no brainer. Fifth appearance here for Shane and he's made the cut every time without ever threatening after. Form this season is decent, one dodgy round in Abu Dhabi and Dubai just blotting the copybook. Solid chances.
Daniel Berger 16/1
Still remember him losing to Harrington here in a playoff in 2015. Came close again in 2020 with a T4. Missed the cut last time out in Phoenix but some good signs at the TOC and Farmers where fit again Daniel led the field off the tee.
Billy Horschel 20/1
Just looks a man high in confidence right now. I make it 98 birdies and 4 eagles in his last five starts!! Putted well in a T11 at Torrey Pines, driving and irons were on point in a T6 in Phoenix. T8 in 2016, T4 in 2017 can Billy put the full package together here in his 10th appearance? I think he can.
Michael Thompson 80/1
Rested after skipping last week, I have a feeling (again!!) Michael Thompson could go well here. Yes it's nine years now since he won The Honda but looking good this year with a T5 at The Sony and T11 at The Farmers. The ex-winner always gets a boost seeing his picture on the wall!!
Long Odds Glory Shot
Brendan Steele 100/1
Four missed cuts in a row but the horse for the course and needs a paycheck. T3 in 2021, T4 in 2020. Can come out of the blue like a T2 at the Zozo last year. Rank outsider who might come good.
