2021 Tour Championship Betting Tips
September 2nd – 5th, 2021
East Lake G.C., Atlanta, Georgia
Par: 70 / Yardage: 7,346
Defending Champion: Dustin Johnson
The field is limited to 30 players this week so I've ranked the bets in terms of EACH/WAY value, worst to best.
5. Abraham Ancer 28/1 4-under.
No real form at East Lake bar a low round last year, but comes here this time a recent winner at the St Jude. Top-10 last week again at the BMW
with impressive stats. If the putts drop on the same speedy bermudagrass greens (as he won on at TPC Southwind) Ancer can place.
4. Viktor Hovland 40/1 3-under.
T20 on his only appearance at East Lake last year having hit more greens than anyone in the field. Distance and accuracy wont be an issue but he needs a big week with the putter. Good signs in a T17 last week.
3. Dustin Johnson 22/1 3-under.
Loitering with intent. Zero pressure and absolutely nothing to lose. The defending Champion from last year and has six top-10 finishes from 11 Tour Championship starts. Very patchy of late alternating good results like a T6 last week to missed cuts. No win since February in Saudi but gets a free pass at making something happen this week.
2. Rory McIlroy 25/1 2-under.
Probably the only player in the field who has the firepower to start 8 shots behind the leader and still have a winning chance. Switched to an old putter and changed the shaft in his driver which yielded a solo fourth at Caves Valley and comes back to East Lake a two time former winner.
1. Justin Thomas 16/1 4-under.
Struggled with family matters and his golf game after winning the Players but encouraging signs of late. T4 at the Northern Trust, T22 last week. Never been outside the top-7 at East Lake in five visits.
