The last chance saloon before the playoffs, the Wyndham Championship, had six players banging on the door at the end of normal time only for Kevin Kisner to break through and take the pot.
It was a feeding frenzy at Sedgefield Country Club with Kevin Kisner, Adam Scott, Si Woo Kim, Roger Sloan, Kevin Na and Branden Grace all teeing off in sudden death. Of all of them, Kisner might well have been the least expectant of success having been in five playoffs before that and won zilch.
This time however Kisner was on a course he loved and when he hit it in stone dead on the second extra hole, the three footer left was worth $1,152,000 plus a big jump towards the top 25 for the finale at East Lake where $15 million is up for grabs.
Kisner now has four PGA wins under his belt and jumps from 52nd to 34th in the latest World Golf Rankings ahead of the Playoffs which start on Thursday with The Northern Trust.
What's In The Bag Kevin Kisner
Driver: Callaway GBB (8.5 deg @9.5) with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 6 X shaft.
3-wood: Callaway Epic Speed Triple Diamond (15 deg) with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 X shaft.
Hybrid: Callaway Apex Pro (18 deg) with an Aldila Rogue Black 130 MSI 80 TX shaft.
Irons: Callaway Apex UT (21, 24 deg), Callaway Apex Pro 2014 (5-9) all with Nippon Pro Modus3 120 TX shafts.
Using a Callaway GBB driver Kevin Kisner found 35 fairways for the week, ranking T31 in the field, and averaged a very healthy 303.4 yards. He proved his seven year old model Callaway Apex Pro 2014 irons are still every bit as good as anything since finding 58 greens in regulation, T8 in the field. Kisner then needed 121 putts total with his Odyssey Exo Seven to circle 23 birdies versus 8 bogeys in regulation and one more birdie in the playoff to seal the win.
