Pope Offers Up Special Mass For Worried Irish Golfers Ahead Of Lockdown Decision

As the world waits patiently for news on a possible closure of Irish golf courses under new Level 5 Coronavirus restrictions, Pope Francis this morning offered a special Papal Mass for worried Irish golfers.
During the Mass the Pontiff praised the devotion of Irish golfers who live within 5 kilometres of their golf club, and may still be allowed play during restrictions, referring to them as the “special chosen ones by God” as referred to in Deuteronomy 14:2.
In his homily Pope Francis urged the GUI to “have a bit of cop on” when coming up with Level 5  measures and noted how much the Irish people depend on golf for their well being.
“Look sure at the end of the day I know Ireland loves golf and Ireland needs golf,” said Pope Francis. “When I visited Ireland on a Sunday and nobody showed up for the big Mass in the Phoenix Park, the Papal Nuncio informed me that Irish people go to Mass on Saturday evening just so they can go golfing on Sunday, as a kind of a penance for their sins and all that. And I know that Rory McIlroy hasn't won a Major in six years and the pain that causes.  So I know how much golf means to Ireland.”
The Pope also had a word for the under privileged golfers with handicaps of over 24, urging them to have faith in God and to go get some lessons.
According to the GUI twitter account, they have received correspondance from the Vatican and will take it into account before making any final decision.
More as it emerges.
