2021 PGA Championship Betting Tips
May 20th – 23rd, 2021
Kiawah Island Golf Resort (Ocean Course), Kiawah Island, South Carolina
Par: 72 / Yardage: 7,876
Purse: $11 million (last years purse) with $1,980,000 (last year) to the winner
Defending Champion:Collin Morikawa
Rory McIlroy is back on top of the betting at 10/1 after winning at Quail Hollow. Last time the PGA Championship was in Kiawah Island Rors won by a country mile.
Doc's 5 Best Each Way Bets
Shane Lowry 70/1
Solid on the PGA Tour this year. Top-10's at Sawgrass and Hilton Head, both Pete Dye courses. Dye actually toured Irish links courses (including Carne in Mayo) to draw inspiration before designing Kiawah Island. Wind will be a factor, Shane will be there or thereabouts.
Jordan Spieth 18/1
Dodgy off the tee but ahead of the rest everywhere else. There's talk of Kiawah being extended to 7,876 yards but they will have to make it playable. Since Phoenix Spieth has notched up six top-10's including a win in Texas and T3 at The Masters. With a short game from heaven and confidence flowing Spieth can grind out a place here…..if he finds it off the tee.
Bryson DeChambeau 18/1
If this turns into the bloodbath everyone is expecting then Bryson has to be considered. Forget his length, this guy will plot and plan and figure out a way to get the job done. T55 last week at Craig Farms, but pre Major don’t take much notice, and look instead at the T9 at Wells Fargo, T3 at Sawgrass and win at Bay Hill.
Victor Hovland 25/1
I said a couple of weeks back that Victor likes to go on a run of big finishes and he has paid out for us with T3's at Valspar and Wells Fargo. The PGA Championship likes to throw up a left field winner from time to time and why not Victor? His win s in Puerto Rico and Mayakoba were coastal in wind on the same paspalum greens as in Kiawah. Seems the perfect fit.
Cameron Smith 45/1
So good this year. Fourth at Riviera (another tough track) and never out of the top-20 since including a T10 at Augusta and T9 at Hilton Head and a doubles win in the Zurich. No PGA Championship form but a brilliant putter who can sneak a place.
Long Odds Glory Shots
Keegan Bradley 80/1 is having a real comeback year on the PGA Tour. Second recently at The Valspar. A former winner of the PGA in 2011 and T3 at Kiawah defending in 2012 he's worth a look.
Louis Oosthuizen at 66/1 will be taken by many. Recovered from the Zurich team blip to score a T8 at Copperhead. He'll be at home in the wind and is putting brilliantly.
Not exactly long odds but 50/1 for Brooks Koepka is crazy! Back to back winner in 2018 and 2019 on an ultra long course? Winner in Phoenix and T2 at WGC before his knee injury. Crazy odds. He's not here to make up numbers.
