Favourite Watch
Dustin Johnson is a crazy 7/2 in the betting after winning in Saudi last week. Loves this place (except for one Sunday in 2010 when he shot 82), a former two time winner in eight top-10's and now has 4 wins in his last 9 starts.
But if you are looking for a win only guy pre tournament try Daniel Berger at 15/1. Missed the cut in Phoenix last week which was a surprise after a good T7 and T10 in Hawaii. T5 last year.
Doc's Top-5 Each Way Bets
Francesco Molinari 25/1
Never normally plays this event so its strange to see the Italian make his “debut” this week. He does know Pebble Beach though from the 2019 US Open where he just squeezed into the top-20 but comes in rested this week with a new lease of life after a T10 at The Farmers and T8 at La Quinta. I think that without the amateurs playing, the PGA Tour will add length and difficulty to the set up which will surprise the regulars and it could be a guy like Fran who hasn't played the event that benefits most.
Jason Day 22/1
Never mind his current form Jason Day just pulls out all the stops for this event every year. He has never managed to win in 11 starts on the Monterey Peninsula but top-5 in 5 of the last 6 years make him an each way lock despite missed cuts in Phoenix and Torrey Pines.
Si Woo Kim 33/1
No entitled “celebrities” to bother the players or us watching this week and another chance for Si Woo Kim to methodically to his thing over the two courses in play. T4 here in 2019 and impressive winner at the American Express when he steam rollered the field on Sunday.
Kevin Streelman 40/1
T22 last week in Phoenix with a T13 clip in driving and T4 in greens and that says to me that Kevin's game is in check heading across to California. Solo second last year when Nick Taylor won and has a formline of 2, T7, 6, T14, T17 over the past five years. Streels has to be on your list.
Jordan Spieth 25/1
If and it’s a big if he doesn't drive it down onto the beach Jordan Spieth has a chance this week. Proved that class is permanent last week with a T4 in Phoenix where he gave a putting exhibition. Winner here back in 2017, T8 here last year and confidence will be high coming in.
Long Odds Glory
Scott Stallings 100/1
Really feel good that Scott Stallings will play well this week. Shot 66 on Saturday in a T36 in Phoenix to erase thoughts of two missed cuts before that. Third here in 2019 and 7th in 2018.
Michael Thompson 70/1
Really enjoy watching this guy. Converting a lot more these days to add to the undoubted class he showed in winning the 3M Open in 2020. Having said that he did miss the cut in Phoenix but I expect him to bounce back this week.
