11th Green “Wont Be In Play For Masters” Says Augusta Chairman After Storm Damage

Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that the damage suffered to the 11th green following Monday’s rain storm is not repairable before next week’s Masters.
Several inches of rain fell in less than 12 hours when two tropical storms converged over the Augusta area causing Rae’s Creek to burst its banks, washing away the entire 11th green.
“We have contingency plans to remove the 11th hole from play and construct a temporary par-3 hole on our driving range which players will play immediately after 18,” Ridley told reporters at a virtual press conference this evening.
More as it emerges.
